Violet Leaf Absolute is one of the most iconic and recognizable natural raw materials in the perfumer’s palette. Obtained from the leaves of Viola odorata, this precious absolute is distinguished by an extraordinarily green, vegetal, and leathery olfactory profile, capable of evoking with remarkable realism the scent of freshly crushed leaves and damp vegetation.

The Egyptian quality is particularly appreciated for its balance between green freshness and deeper, more sophisticated facets. Its aroma opens with intense notes of green leaves, cut grass, and fresh cucumber, evolving into a heart characterized by metallic, earthy, and leathery nuances.

Unlike floral violet notes reconstructed using ionones, Violet Leaf Absolute offers an authentically vegetal and three-dimensional expression, making it an irreplaceable raw material in artistic and high-end perfumery.

 

PERFUMERY

In perfumery, Violet Leaf Absolute is primarily used to construct green, leathery, floral, and chypre accords, to which it imparts extraordinary naturalness and olfactory complexity.

Its main characteristic lies in its ability to introduce an intense yet elegant green facet, capable of immediately adding depth and realism to a composition. Thanks to its distinctive vegetal, aqueous, and slightly metallic notes, this raw material can evoke the sensation of fresh leaves, cut stems, and damp vegetation with a realism that is difficult to achieve using synthetic molecules.

From a formulation perspective, it shows excellent affinity with ionones, rose, orris, jasmine, musks, vetiver, and woody materials, contributing to the construction of green tea accords and contemporary floral bouquets.

Thanks to its strong olfactory personality, it is often used at low concentrations as a characterizing material, capable of profoundly transforming the character of a composition by imparting elegance, naturalness, and an immediately recognizable green signature.
