MIMOSA (MOROCCO) ABSOLUTE
Manufacturer: PAYAN BERTRAND
Botanical name: Acacia decurrens var. dealbata
Plant part: Flowering tops
Country of origin: Morocco
Country of manufacturing: France
Extraction method: Solvent extraction
DESCRIPTION
The Moroccan Mimosa Absolute is a precious natural raw material intended for perfumery, characterised by the unmistakable floral, honeyed, green, and powdery personality of mimosa. The botanical material, sourced from Morocco, is subsequently processed and transformed by Payan Bertrand in Grasse, the historic French house specialising in the production of natural raw materials for perfumery.
The absolute is obtained through solvent extraction, followed by purification of the concrete to produce a more refined raw material suitable for formulation. This process preserves the numerous aromatic facets present in the botanical material, resulting in a profile that is considerably more complex than a simple synthetic reconstruction of the mimosa note.
Olfactively, Mimosa Absolute has a soft, warm, and enveloping character, in which floral sweetness blends with nuances of pollen, honey, hay, green leaf, and violet. A delicate anisic and subtly fruity component contributes to its distinctive identity, while the powdery aspect provides a soft and velvety sensation.
Mimosa possesses a characteristic duality: on the one hand, it is sunny, sweet, and honeyed; on the other, it retains a green and vegetal facet that prevents the composition from becoming excessively sugary. It is precisely this balance that makes it such an interesting raw material in artistic perfumery.
Also available as a 10% dilution in Natural TEC for professional perfumery use.
PERFUMERY
In perfumery, Mimosa Absolute is primarily used to build and enrich floral, powdery, green, and gourmand accords, to which it imparts softness, warmth, and a distinctive spring-like character.
Its strength lies in its ability to introduce a true floral texture into a composition: it does not simply provide a mimosa note, but helps create a soft, powdery, and enveloping effect, with nuances reminiscent of pollen, freshly opened yellow flowers, and the warmth of the sun on vegetation.
The Moroccan-origin quality generally offers a particularly interesting character for those seeking a floral, honeyed, and green mimosa, while the processing by Payan Bertrand in Grasse brings this raw material towards a more refined expression suited to fine fragrance.
From a formulation perspective, the absolute blends beautifully with violet, orris, ionones, tonka bean, vanilla, benzoin, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, soft woods, and musks. It is particularly effective in the construction of mimosa, powdery, spring floral, honey, hay, and violet accords, as well as in gourmand compositions where it can introduce a more sophisticated floral facet.
In small quantities, it can be used as a modifier to round out a floral accord and give it a distinctive yellow, powdery, and honeyed tone; at higher dosages, it becomes a recognisable and prominent component of the composition.
Another valuable formulation characteristic is its ability to create a bridge between green and floral notes and warmer, sweeter structures: the vegetal component keeps the accord airy, while the honeyed and powdery nuances increase its depth and softness.

COSMETICS
In cosmetics, Mimosa Absolute is used as a fragrance ingredient to impart a floral, soft, powdery, and delicately honeyed signature to formulations.
It is particularly well suited to creams, lotions, body oils, body butters, skincare products, shampoos, and premium cosmetic formulations, where it contributes to creating an elegant and enveloping olfactory profile.
Its distinctive powdery facet makes it particularly interesting for products seeking a sensation of softness and refinement, while its green and honeyed notes help prevent an excessively sweet result.
In formulations, it can be combined with rose, violet, orris, vanilla, tonka bean, citrus, and musks, helping to enhance the roundness, depth, and cohesion of the olfactory accord.
