CIVETTE SYNTH 039648
Manufacturer: FIRMENICH
Origin: Aromatic synthesis
DESCRIPTION
Civette Synth 039648 by Firmenich is a synthetic base developed to recreate the olfactory complexity of civet, one of the most historically characteristic raw materials in animalic perfumery.
It is distinguished by an intense and multifaceted profile, in which animalic, fecal, musky, honeyed and floral notes coexist. In concentrated form, it has a particularly powerful and provocative character; when used in very small quantities, it can instead help make a composition more warm, sensual and three-dimensional.
Its function is not limited to reproducing the odour of civet. In a well-balanced formula, Civette Synth can act as a base modifier, adding a fleshy nuance and a greater sense of naturalness to floral, ambery, oriental and leathery accords.
Produced by Firmenich, this base represents a formulation tool for perfumers wishing to explore the animalic facets of classical perfumery through a synthetic composition, without using raw materials of animal origin.
Also available in a 10% dilution in Natural TEC for professional use in perfumery.
PERFUMERY
Civette Synth 039648 is particularly interesting in artistic perfumery, where animalic facets are used to impart depth, sensuality and complexity to compositions.
One of its most interesting applications is in floral accords, particularly those built around jasmine, rose, tuberose and other intense floral notes.
Used in traces, the base can make the heart more fleshy and enveloping, reducing the sense of excessive cleanliness found in some modern compositions. In a jasmine accord, for example, it can emphasise the indolic and animalic nuances, creating a richer and more sensual impression.
In amber and oriental structures, Civette Synth can contribute to building a darker, warmer and more complex base. It blends well with materials such as labdanum, benzoin, vanilla, patchouli and ambery woods, introducing an animalic component that contrasts with balsamic and sweet nuances. The result can be particularly interesting in fragrances with an opulent, resinous and sensual character.
The base can also be used in leathery, tobacco and smoky accords. Combined with leathery raw materials, tobacco, dark woods and ambery materials, it can accentuate the animalic character of the composition and give it greater depth.
It is particularly suited to sophisticated leathery interpretations in which the animalic component should integrate into the base without necessarily becoming dominant.
In chypre and musky compositions, Civette Synth can introduce a warmer and more natural nuance, creating a link between the floral notes of the heart and the earthy, woody and musky elements of the base.
It can also be used to modify already structured accords, adding an animalic component that makes the result less linear and more complex.
Civette Synth is an extremely powerful base and should initially be evaluated at a high dilution. It is advisable to prepare a working solution, for example at 1% or 0.1%, and add it progressively to the formula.
The optimal dosage depends on the olfactory architecture, the fragrance concentration and the desired effect. A minimal quantity may be sufficient to significantly modify the character of the base; an excess, on the other hand, may saturate the composition and make the animalic note too prominent.

COSMETICS
In cosmetics, Civette Synth can be used as an ingredient in fragrance compositions intended for products where a warm, sensual and sophisticated olfactory character is desired.
It may be of interest for fragrancing perfumes, body creams, lotions, cleansers, shampoos and other cosmetic products, provided that its use complies with the technical documentation and the requirements applicable to the specific intended use.
In cosmetic fragrances, its contribution is primarily structural: when used in very small quantities, it can enrich floral, ambery and musky accords, providing greater depth and a sensual nuance.
It is not necessarily a base intended to dominate the profile of the finished product. Its interest lies in its ability to modify the overall perception of the fragrance, making the base more nuanced even when the animalic note is not immediately recognisable.
