OUD SYNTH 184007
Manufacturer: FIRMENICH
Origin: Aromatic synthesis
DESCRIPTION
Oud Synth 184007 by Firmenich is an aromatic base developed to recreate the complex and deep character of oud, also known as agarwood. Its olfactory profile combines woody, balsamic, earthy and animalic facets, with a warm depth and particularly interesting persistence for the construction of contemporary oriental and woody accords.
The base interprets the darker and more structured side of oud, evoking the resinous character of agarwood and its deeper nuances. Alongside the woody component, sweet balsamic accents emerge, together with an earthy dimension reminiscent of vetiver and animalic nuances that contribute to the complexity of the base.
Natural oud is a precious raw material obtained from the resinous wood of trees belonging to the Aquilaria genus. Its formation is linked to complex biological processes, and its olfactory composition may vary according to the species, origin and conditions under which the resin forms.
Oud Synth 184007 offers the perfumer a controllable olfactory reconstruction of the character of oud, useful for creating consistent and reproducible accords without relying exclusively on the variability of natural raw materials.
Also available in a 10% dilution in DPG for professional use in perfumery.
PERFUMERY
Oud Synth 184007 is particularly suitable for the construction of oud, oriental, ambery and woody accords, where it can act as a base note and structural element of the composition.
Its intensity allows it to be used both as the protagonist of an accord dedicated to oud and as a modifier of more complex bases, to which it imparts depth, density and a distinctive woody facet.
In oriental compositions, Oud Synth can form the core of the accord, around which spicy, resinous, ambery and floral facets can be developed. The combination with rose, saffron, labdanum and benzoin makes it possible to create rich and sophisticated oriental accords. Rose introduces a floral component that contrasts with the woody depth, while saffron adds a dry and spicy nuance. Labdanum and benzoin, meanwhile, contribute to making the base warmer and more balsamic. This combination is particularly interesting in niche perfumery, where oud is often interpreted through contrasts between dark woods, opulent flowers and resins.
Within woody structures, Oud Synth can be combined with patchouli, vetiver, cedar and ambery woods to build deep and nuanced bases. Patchouli accentuates the earthy and dark dimension, while vetiver can emphasise the dry and rooted aspects of the base. Cedar introduces a drier and more linear contrast, useful for giving definition to the accord. The combination with ambery materials, on the other hand, enhances the sensation of warmth and continuity in the base, creating a modern structure in which the oud note remains recognisable without becoming excessively dark.
Oud Synth can also be used in accords inspired by incense, resins and aromatic woods. The combination with frankincense and myrrh allows compositions with a meditative, balsamic and resinous character to be created. In this context, the base contributes to the depth of the drydown, while the resins and incense notes articulate its profile.
The result can be directed towards traditional interpretations of oud or towards more contemporary, drier and more transparent accords.
Oud Synth can also be used in modern compositions, combined with Ambrox, Timbersilk, Iso E Super and other woody notes. These combinations make it possible to balance the density of oud with more transparent materials.
