DESCRIPTION

Benzaldehyde is one of the most historic and recognizable aromatic molecules in perfumery, renowned for its characteristic almond-like, nutty, and slightly sweet profile.

Its aroma immediately recalls bitter almond, with nuances that can evoke cherry, maraschino, almond paste, and fruit kernels.
Although it is a relatively simple molecule, it possesses a strong olfactory identity and is capable of deeply characterizing a composition even at low concentrations.

Depending on the dosage and formulation context, it can bring a gourmand, liqueur-like, floral, or powdery facet, making it extremely versatile in the construction of both classic and modern accords.
It is a key raw material in fine perfumery and scented cosmetics, where it is used to give the accord a distinctive signature and recognizability.

PERFUMERY

In perfumery, Benzaldehyde is used as a top–heart material to introduce an intense and immediately recognizable almond facet.

Its main strength lies in its ability to give character to an accord even in small quantities, creating a clear, distinctive olfactory signature.
When used in gourmand and floral compositions, it helps develop a richer, warmer, and more nuanced effect, while in powdery and oriental accords it adds depth and roundness.

From a formulation perspective, it works particularly well with vanilla, coumarin, heliotropin, ionones, rose, and balsamic notes, helping to build almond, marzipan, cherry, and poudré accords.
