COUMARIN

Name: Coumarin

Origin: Aromatic synthesis

DESCRIPTION

Coumarin is one of the historic and fundamental molecules of perfumery, renowned for its warm, sweet, and balsamic profile, with nuances reminiscent of tonka bean, almond, dry vanilla, and aromatic herbs.

Although it is now produced through synthetic processes, it represents the olfactory archetype of many natural raw materials and is considered a true milestone in the construction of fougère, amber, and oriental accords.

Its aroma is soft yet structuring, capable of providing continuity, roundness, and depth to compositions, harmoniously binding floral, aromatic, and woody notes.

Thanks to its stability and versatility, Coumarin is widely used in both fine perfumery and scented cosmetics, where it delivers a warm, elegant, and recognizable signature.

PERFUMERY

In perfumery, Coumarin is an essential base note in the construction of fougère, oriental, amber, and dry gourmand accords.

Its sweet-balsamic and slightly spicy profile helps smooth transitions between notes, improving the cohesion and longevity of the formula. It is often used in combination with lavender, oakmoss, vanilla, tonka bean, patchouli, and woods, where it brings warmth and structure to the overall accord.

At controlled dosages, it provides classic elegance and olfactory solidity, making it indispensable in both traditional and contemporary compositions.

Also available diluted at 10% in DPG for professional perfumery use.

COSMETICS

In cosmetics, Coumarin is used as a fragrance ingredient to give products a warm, reassuring, and slightly sweet note.

It is suitable for creams, lotions, cleansers, body care, and hair care products, where it enhances the sensorial perception of the formulation. Its clean, enveloping olfactory signature is particularly appreciated in bodycare lines, men’s or unisex products, as well as in formulations with an aromatic and classic character.

Thanks to its stability, it maintains its olfactory profile over time even in complex cosmetic bases.
